The Nightingale Approach To Education
is grounded in a firm belief that every child's intelligence manifests itself naturally from birth as lively fascination and curiosity about the world around him. Each child can thus learn most effectively when the classroom environment is designed to meet the specific needs of each of its learners.
Nightingale Montessori offers an educational method that nourishes self-motivation, inspires reverence for life, and teaches the self-discipline required for responsible citizenship. Success is measured by the child's continuing enthusiasm for learning.
Our educational mission is 3 - fold:
1. We are dedicated to realizing Dr. Maria Montessori's vision through a program that makes optimal use of the critical primary years by engaging each child's natural love of learning and maintaining his excitement of discovery. Research confirms Montessori's premise that there is in the early life of every child - from birth to age 6 - an intense period of cognitive development when the behavior patterns and value orientation that shape the young personality are indelibly formed.
2. We are committed to building a strong foundation for the continued growth of the mind and spirit as we explore the optimal conditions in which self-motivation and independent thinking can flourish.
3. Our ultimate goal is to build a model educational system (PreK-12) that can be used as a demonstration site for the purpose of enacting crucial education and social reforms so needed in our nation's public schools today.
